On the cold, blustery day of Jan. 28, the Washington County Draft Animal Association (WCDAA) gave rides to the families who attended the 22nd Annual Frost Faire held at the Saratoga Battlefield in Saratoga, NY.
Inspired by Frost Faired in England in the 1700s, the event that offered a wide variety of activities including tubing — done with a little snow and slick grass, children’s crafts and games and musket firing by a small group of men staying at a Revolutionary War winter encampment.
Four teams of horses provided by WCDAA — Skelly’s Haflingers, Field’s Percherons, Volkommer’s Belgians and Clark’s Percherons — were very busy giving wagon rides with the ground crew assisting with loading and unloading passengers and directing traffic past the horses along with answering the many questions about the horses and owners.
