In spite of stormy weather and excessive mud, Herkimer County’s 5th annual Family Day at the Farm took place as scheduled, with folks coming from far and wide to attend.

Hosted by Ray Hulten and Judy Mijares of Raycliff Quarter Horse Farm, the event featured a variety of family entertainment including hay rides, music, food, crafts, face painting, vendors and games, such as spoon and egg races, Tug of War and hay bale tossing. Farrier Jeremy Brundage provided hoof-trimming demonstrations on Raycliff Farm horses.

“The reaction from the public was incredible!” said Hulten. “We have people stopping us and thanking us everywhere we go!”

Hulten credits the planning committee members and volunteers for making the event so successful.

“The town of Manheim representatives, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County, Herkimer County Soil & Water, Herkimer County Farm Bureau, Herkimer County Dairy Promotion and the Mohawk Valley FFA, along with all of the volunteers are what makes this come together,” said Hulten. “We do it for the kids.”

Raycliff Quarter Horse Farm is located at 795 Snells Bush Road, Little Falls, NY, and is the home of the AQHA blue roan stallion, ‘How Blue Are You’.
