Excitement is building among National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) members for the 7th annual NBHA Super Show held in New York.
The “Syracuse Spectacular” barrel racing event will be held June 16-18 in the Toyota Coliseum at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
All current NBHA members are eligible to compete in this four-divisional format. Non-members can join the NBHA at the show and run.
The NBHA Home Office will manage the show office and is in charge of arena conditions and stalls. Commercial vendors will offer participants and spectators the best of western-theme merchandise and equine products.
The super show offers opportunities for participants to win cash, prizes and “wild cards” (which allow a person to enter an NBHA World Championship without having to qualify). In 2016, over $77,000 in cash and prizes were paid out in the three open events, in addition to the youth and senior classes. In 2017, a total of $11,500 will be added bringing an estimated total of cash and prizes in excess of $78,000. In addition, a total of 60 wildcards will be issued to the top three places in each division of each event. Again in 2017, men’s and women’s side pots will be available in the open classes along with the opportunity to “carry over” open times to the Youth and Senior classes.
The National Barrel Horse Association is celebrating its 25th year in barrel racing and remains the largest barrel racing organization in the world. The NBHA headquartered in Augusta, GA, revolutionized the barrel racing industry by pioneering the divisional format, which allows riders of all skill levels a chance to win money and prizes in barrel racing competition. The NBHA has more than 21,000 members on five continents. NBHA events to date have paid out over $20 million with added money over $4 million.
